Talking Is Crucial For Better Relationships
There are plenty of relationships around that have one of the couple complaining that their partner never listens to them. We should ask ourselves how come they make no effort to learn about what their partner is thinking and feeling. If you put yourself ahead of your partner then they are entitled to feel hard done by and less important to the relationship than you are. Relationships never fix themselves and you both need to try to save your marriage from a life of disappointment.
Anyone in this situation needs to look at themselves and consider if their relationship is everything they hoped for. If what you think about life and your relationship is not important to your partner then something is not right about your relationship and it needs fixing. Relationships are supposed to be a partnership and that should be an equal relationship. Both of you have thoughts and opinions and both of you have the right to be heard.
All relationships suffer now and again from complacency and partners who are distracted by other things in life. None of this means that it is OK or right and if you want a proper sharing relationship you must try to listen to what your partner is saying about how they feel.
Relationships can be severely damaged when you fail to take account of what your partner is saying and what they are thinking. A lack of commitment and neglect may cause your relationship to start to suffer. It does not take a lot of effort to turn down the TV and listen to what your partner has to say. If you have ideas about how your relationship could be improved then your partner should be prepared to listen and take note of your thoughts.
Building a better relationship depends on communicating with your partner and listening to what they have to say. The couples that stay together longest and happiest always seem to be the couples who can talk openly and honestly with each other.
To listen properly you need to turn off the TV and give your partner your full attention. Talk and discus what your partner thinks and feels if you want to avoid conflicts in your relationship. Talking is cheap but it can achieve a great deal to help you both enjoy your relationship together. Listening can be half hearted and achieve nothing or you can try to listen and understand and improve your relationship.
