Why some people succeed in sports while others don’t

One of the hardest things to figure out is why two equal athletes can have two different results.  In other words there are many talented athletes that compete.  Many have similar skills. But only a few get to be successful while others come up short. In this article we ar going to find out why is that so.  In other words the secret to success will be revealed.

It may be hard figure out at first but once you look and observe it for a long time it is easy to see why.Because you would see from these successful athletes that they have this proper mindset when it comes to competition.Mental toughness is the secret of these athletes or for any people who want to succeed in life. Those who are successful have had training with regards to their mental toughness.  As a family counselor San Diego practice I have a lot of parents who want their child succeed bring their kids in for this.

Success starts and ends with mental toughness.  If a person doesn’t have their minds trained properly they will fail.Sports is a highly competitive field and if you would like to succeed you have to be mentally prepared all the time.  That is why my sports psychologist San Diego practice gets so many clients.People know that this would give them the edge over their peers to be more sucessful than the others.

Most of the time physical gifts are what these athletes rely on to become successful. But once they meet others who are as gifted as they are they soon realize that it is not enough to be gifted physically only. This can lead to anger and frustration which can cause a lot more problems.  Sometimes it leads them to need my anger management San Diego services.  That is when it goes beyond just sports psychology and the anger needs to be dealt with.

So now you may already know why two equally gifted persons have different levels of success.  If they prepare their minds the right way they can experience tremendous success. But if they try to succeed on talent alone then it would be tall order.

Reasons why depression is a serious condition

One thing everyone goes through is times when they don’t feel that great. But there are times when these can turn into depression. This happens to a lot of people and this is not unusual.  But there are times when it does get too serious and needs to be treated. That would be the reason why in this article we are going to discuss some reasons why you should not take depression lightly.

But first, we must understand what depression is.Depression is usually caused by some circumstances.  I have seen many causes of depression in my depression counseling service. It may be caused by the loss of a loved one or being laid off at work.  Those are the usual reasons but sometimes it can also be caused by a chemical imbalance.  Those are times when you need to treat it with medicine usually.

But in regards to the normal causes of depression there comes a time when you have to take it seriously. There will be a time when you do not want it to worsen anymore.Because when it becomes worse the person might hurt himself/herself already. As a family therapist San Diego practice I see those instances when it does get too bad.I have witnessed some cases where they can already hurt themselves. That is why if you know someone who has been going through depression for a while you might want to seek help for him/her already.

And also, if it goes on for a while the depression can turn into anger. So if that happens you would not only worry about them hurting themselves but them hurting other people as well.  Usually with depression you have to worry about them hurting themselves. But once it turns to anger they can already hurt others.  That is what we see happen in my anger management San Diego service. That is when they already need to seek help.

As you can see if depression goes on too long you need to seek help. Depression is one emotion that is normal but it can turn harmful.

The role of the mind in sports

One of the things that always cross our minds when it comes to sports is how great athletes are physically.  That is true they are very athletically gifted. But one thing that gets underestimated is the mind’s power. How powerfully the mind can contribute to success many people don’t realize. But looking at the professional sports you can observe this is true.  You have examples of great athletes who end up not succeeding in sports. It wasn’t because of the physical gifts they have.In most cases it was the weakness of their mind.So in this article we will look at how you can utilize the power of the mind to succeed in sports.

First of all this advice is coming from years of experience as a sports psychologist San Diego. From many years of dealing with athletes I have seen that the ones who can get their minds together are the ones who excel.  That is very important in competitive sports.Because those who are prepared can surpass those of equal athletic strength with greater mind power.

Next what do they need to do to tap into this mind power? To help you tap into your mind power there are a lot of courses you can buy.To get a counselor to help you is the best bet if you really want to excel.  In my family counselor San Diego practice I have seen how working with a counselor helps the athlete really apply what they have learned.

Finally in sports one of the hardest emotions to conquer is anger.  And in sports when you are in a competition anger could be one thing that makes you not perform well. Because of that in my anger management San Diego services I have incorporated help in this area.  This has helped many athletes improve as well.

So there you see the secret to triumph in sports.  Master your mind and you can succeed in sports.

Treating depression with counseling

One of the hardest emotions people go through is depression. If you went through it already you know that it is not an easy thing to go through.  What’s worse is when it get’s real serious and goes beyond temporary. It may be caused by a traumatic event. It may be caused by a death of a family member.Other things may also cause it.  But the key is to understand when you have to seek help.

Now the help I am talking about is using a depression counseling sevice to help. You have to seek help already when aspects in your life are being affected already. This is where it affects your job.Or when your social skills are also being affected. The reason why you need to seek help is because depression not only can hurt other people but you can also hurt yourself in the process. And it is so hard to know when they reach that point. So counseling is really needed.

Another bad thing caused by depression is when the afflicted person gets angry always. Sometimes depression is where a person feels like there is a part of their life out of their control. If that happens they would feel angry at the world for whatever reason.  This is when they would need anger management San Diego services.Because you do not want a depression case to develop into chronic anger. That would be the time when other people can get hurt.

You should start counseling immediately if these things are experienced by you.Because this depression of yuors can be treated by this counseling. With my family counselor San Diego service I try to help people in this area. What they need sometimes is a person who can understand them. This will help them overcome their depression.

A depression is a very serious condition that needs to be treated.  If left to itself it has bad consequences.Undergoing counseling would help one to overcome those things.

Uncontrolled anger can be very devastating. It can reveal your true nature. Anger is a negative emotion and it shatters relationship and breeds violence.

Is It Good To “Let it Rip?”

If you are using this excuse to hurt others, what you do not know is that it escalates anger and it does not help to resolve the situation.

To solve the problem of anger you must recognize the anger within your mind. You must apply practical methods in your daily life to control your anger.

To stop your uncontrolled behavior, you must know its symptoms. You will learn how to recognize them and stop it at an earlier time.

Here are the symptoms of uncontrolled behavior:

  • Always thinking about detailed plans to commit acts of violence

So what is the best solution?

You should find out what causes your rage and when you do, develop strategies to control your anger.

Is your anger important or reasonable enough?

Is it possible that you are responsible for making the situation complicated?

Some ways to help you control your anger:

Anger Management can help you learn to control your reactions or get rid of the things that enrage you

  • Simple relaxation tools can calm down angry feelings such as deep breathing, yoga-like   exercises, visualization of a relaxed experience
  • It helps if you change your environment where you can have a fresh view of things and get away from the usual and irritating place.
  • Choose less hurtful words and don’t say the first thing that comes into your head, think carefully about what you want to say.
  • Use humor to help yourself face them more constructively. Don’t use sarcastic humor because it will still escalate anger
  • Listen carefully to what the other person is saying and take your time before answering.
  • Anger, even when it’s justified, can quickly become irrational so always remind yourself that you’re just experiencing some hard times in your life.

Every problem has a solution. The best mentality is to focus on how to handle and face the problem.

How to really achieve success in sports

One of the things that is incredible to watch are great athletes.  The things that they could do physically seem impossible at times. But what is true is that some of those popular athletes are just as physically gifted as the other players who are not that popular.  The secret to top performances is in the mind. What most people do not know is that mental tougness can bring success.

Let us consider some cases.  As a family counselor San Diego I see it all the time with student athletes.  You see kids with great physical skills. But a lot of times they do not achieve success because their mental toughness hinders them.  We see it all the time in professional sports. You watch a lot of athletes who fail to bring their A-game and win it all.  Even though they are the best at their game. When the chance to win it all has presented itself to them, they still can’t do it.Those who succeed are those who are physically and mentally tough.

That is why as a sports psychologist San Diego I have so many clients come in who need a breakthrough.  They are gifted physically but can’t compete for some reason. Most of the time the reason is because they are mentally inferior. That is the time when my service can help athletes like them who have problems.  Because a lot of times it is a mental block they need to beat.Once they have hurdled that then they can be successful.

Another thing that I witness in athletes that hinders them is their anger.  If an athlete is unable to control their emotions they can’t win consistently.  Doing anger management San Diego has allowed me to turn athletes around who were letting anger get the best of them.  But by seeking help and being willing to change they can achieve success.

4 Temper Control Methods

We are a complicated mix of emotions, of which a temper is a part. holding our anger back is a key to enjoying happy relationships. If you find that you get angry often, then it may be obvious that your friends might start to think that you may have anger management problems. Sometimes it’s easy to misunderstand someone, or overreact after a bad day and take it out on everyone else.

Showing anger is part of our very being, so it’s not really a surprise when it rears its head, the trouble is that if we keep it inside, it only takes a small thing later for us to release all that pent up anger in one large explosion. That’s when those around us see and think we have a problem, but we do not.

So, before you let your anger ruin your life completely, take a look at the following advice to assist you to keep hold of your temper.

For a great free site on Anger Management and related issues, then check out Anger Management Guide

When you feel your anger coming, pause and examine yourself. Time has come to wait and look at yourself to determine whether or not you have anger management issues. You must find out the truth here, so be straightforward and honest with yourself .Try and take a third party view of yourself, and ask what would you think of yourself from someone else’s perspective”

By asking yourself about your temper shows that you already believe that you may have an anger problem. Are you prone to urges of breaking anything you can get your hands on when you feel like “exploding”? If your answer is “yes”, you are at risk of losing all those you love, unless you’re prepared to do something to try and resolve this problem. Any psychologist running anger management classes will tell you that admitting to yourself that you have an anger management problem, is the first step towards finding a cure.

We all have a temper, and with it comes a choice - you can choose to let it out in a controlled manner, or you can store it up inside until you feel you’ve been pushed too far, at which time you go off like a volcano. When you feel those destructive desires beginning, try and put the breaks on, stop. Concentrate on taking deep breaths, slowly and evenly - like a fish. Now this method is great for more trivial things, like treading in cat poo, but is probably insufficient for the bigger and more irritating things in life.

Just to remind you of a great free site dealing with this and other related issues, check out Anger Management Guide

Consider (whilst chilling) - what have you ever achieved when you lost it?. This is logic, use it. You’re only hurting yourself and  the way others look at you. What do you think of others when you see them out of control? They’re being stupid right Do you want people to look at you and make that assumption too? This is a great way to stop getting angry as it makes you look at your reactions from the angle of another person. So make yourself stop and give time to applying some logic rather than overreacting- it always works, but you have to make the effort to actually do it!

So, when you next feel like taking a tank to your bank, decide to stop and count to ten. Try turning the situation into something funny and attempt to and laugh it off - you will when you see how trivial you are being!.

How Can Anger Destroy Your Relationship?

Happiness, as we all know, come from the relationship around you.
We all want to build a loving and lasting relationship but it is not that easy. Somewhere along the road, things will get in the way and you find yourself unable to maintain  your relationship.
One of the hindrances in loving relationships is anger. Anger is a powerful emotion. It is one thing that is going to do some damage whether you choose to express it or hold it.
What if you have ever loved someone who has never learned to adjust in his surroundings? Can you imagine what your life would be like in the years to come?
When one becomes really angry it creates a need to try to control everything. Anger can damage a relationship. If anger arises, events progressed from mild irritation, to yelling or maybe physical abuse.
You may argue or fight intensely.

But ask yourself:
Does this help our relationship healthy?

Here’s some facts about anger and how it can destroy your relationship:

  • Anger can quickly destroy a relationship that has been good for a long time.
  • Your self-esteem and confidence can be affected by anger.
  • - Anger does affect trust and love.
  • - Anger is not a peaceful emotion, it is full of uncertainty and fear, you’ll never know what happens next - Anger makes you say and do things that you will regret for the rest of your life.

If there is too much anger in your present situation or if you are in a relationship with someone who is easily angered, then perhaps you should start thinking if you still have an intimate life with your partner.Because being in a critical situation will make you unhappy and cause more ill feelings towards your partner and eventually would destroy your intimacy.
Trust and honesty can be destroyed by anger so easily and it wears off intimacy in your relationship. Harsh words, criticism and non-acceptance are the causes of anger and it can destroy a loving relationship.

Anger results to negative feelings.

Intimacy vanishes in a relationship if there is constant blaming and criticizing.

Accept and understand eachother to protect a truly valuable emotional bond that you have invested. Do not allow yourselves to erupt without talking what should be done to make things clear. Instead, find ways to discuss it in a civilized manner with a clear mind and open heart.

To your happiness!
