Stay Out of Rebound Relationships - The Best Break Up Advice
The best piece of advice after a break up you can get is to make sure you don’t get caught in a rebound relationship. A rebound relationship is one where either one or both the partners are still not over their previous relationship. Thus, while it is possible to find true love once again after you have broken up; if it happens too soon after the break up then the odds of it being a rebound relationship are high.
Advice After A Break Up: Are You In A Rebound Relationship
Here are some signs that will help you to determine whether you’re in a rebound relationship or not:
Is your ex almost always in your thoughts? A lot of people can’t stop thinking about their ex even when they are in someone else’s company. For instance, you are out for dinner with your new partner but are thinking that the last time you visited that restaurant was with your ex. Thus, if such things are happening with you, then you’re not completely over your ex and could be in a rebound relationship.
Can you think or talk about your ex freely or does that bring back a lot of pain and sadness? If you find that you become sad or perhaps even angry when remembering your ex, then you have unresolved feelings. And if you’re in another relationship with such feelings, then it is very likely that you’re on the rebound.
Are you constantly looking back and thinking that ‘only if’ you had done certain things… or ‘only if’ you had listened more… or maybe ‘only if’ you were around more…things would be different? If you’re still not over the ‘what ifs’ and the ‘only ifs’, you’re definitely not ready for a new relationship.
Thus, ensure that you are not in a rebound relationship as such a bond is not fair to either you or your partner. This is one piece of advice after a break up you should never ignore.

How to Avoid Losing Your Mind After a Break Up
Coping after a break up can be extremely difficult, especially if you were not the one who initiated the split. You’ll be experiencing all kinds of negative emotions in the days immediately following the break.
Rejection, low self-esteem, anger, and depression are all common feelings that break ups can produce, and you may even feel all of them at once. Just know that it’s okay, and that you’re perfectly normal. That knowledge alone should help you out a great deal in handling your situation. Here are some other tips for keeping sane and coming out better than ever if you’ve been dumped:
1. Do something distracting. Staying in bed and crying all day after a break up isn’t going to help you. In fact, it’s going to make you feel even worse. Give yourself one day TOPS for moping, then get out of the house and do something. Even if you don’t feel like it, you’ve got to force yourself.
It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as it’s not something that reminds you of your ex. Try to choose an activity you enjoy, like going to the beach or shopping at the mall. If you can find a friend or two to bring with you, all the better, as friends will help cheer you up. Do something fun every day until you feel better.
2. Be social. Try to put yourself in places where other people will be, and make sure you will have opportunities for interacting with those people. Being social not only will distract you from your sad feelings, it will also help you re-learn what it’s like to enjoy yourself without your ex, and will put you in a better position to meet someone new when you’re ready. Join a club, go to religious services, attend parties–whatever you can think of that involves groups of people having a good time.
3. Dress up so you feel attractive. When you feel good about your appearance, you’ll turn heads, and seeing all those people noticing you will make you realize you have a lot to offer and that your ex was a fool for leaving.
4. Avoid contact with your ex until you’re over the hump of the break up. Don’t call, email, tex, visit, or even send a letter. That will just bring up all those old feelings of sorrow and depression again. Once you know you’re over it, then you can give your ex a call to see how he’s doing, if you even still want to at that point.
In most cases, break ups occur for good reasons. If your relationship has ended, you probably dodged a bullet and just don’t know it yet. However, some relationships do deserve a second chance, especially ones that ended for stupid reasons (like lack of communication) or misunderstandings.
After the break up, once you’ve been on your own for a few weeks and are thinking more rationally, take an objective look at your former relationship and decide if you’re better off without your ex, or if the two of you really should try again. If you think you still have a future with your ex, you’ll need help getting him back, and the best thing you can do is to follow a proven plan.
